Someone was either able to get personal information from a celebrity person and then he was able to hack into their iCloud and retrieve the photos or there was a security failure in iCloud.

Some say the leak of nude celebrity photos was made possible by software designed to let law enforcement lift data from iPhones with ease.

Whatever the cause Appel has added additional security steps to keep hackers out. Appel is moving quickly to restore confidence in its system‘s security because the new iPhone will be marketed next week.

Appel Chief Executive Tim Cook said celebrity’s iCloud accounts where compromised when hackers correctly answered security questions to obtain their password. Appel will broaden its use of the two-factor authentication security to avoid future incidents.

Two-factor authentication requires a user to have two or three things to access an account not just a username and password.

This tells us that we are never too careful. When we create our password we need to create a password that can not be traced back to us. We need think out of the box and create a password that is not related to us in any way. Your password should never be to obvious like your children’s name, your spouse name or your pet‘s name. And we need to change our password frequently.

We also need to be extra careful not to give out personal information to strangers.  If we are asked for personal information we need to make sure we are communicating with the right people.

Our passwords should be a little out of the box.
To change them every now and then is good advice 🙂
