One Ring Phone Scam – Do Not Call Back

Phone Scams

Scams come in all shapes and sizes.

The lates I have heard of is so called One Ring Phone Scam.

The Chicago police is warning residents not to call back if you have a missed call notification.  Check if the number is listed before you call back.

The Scammers let the phone ring ones and then they hang up and your phone is prompting a missed call.

If you return the call you will hear a operator say „please hold“ and you wait and you will get a hefty per-minute charge on top on an international rate.

It looks like a domestic call with a three digit area code but actually it is associated with international phone numbers.

The best way to protect yourself is to ignore the call.  If you are not sure what it is, look it up before you call back.

If you have been a victim of the scam try to resolve the charges with your phone company.

If that does not work you can take the next step and file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and the Federal Communication Commission
